Top Pakistani envoy bids farewell to UAE with Dubai reception
Diplomatic community pays tribute to Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi ahead of Moscow posting
DUBAI – Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, was honoured at a farewell reception hosted in Dubai by Vista Maritime Travel and Tourism, led by Dr Zafar Tahir and Dr Fatima Khalid.
The event brought together Emirati dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, and representatives of the Pakistani community.
Reflecting on his tenure, Ambassador Tirmizi said, “The three years I have spent in this beautiful country have been some of the most rewarding of my life. My wife and I will always consider Dubai and Abu Dhabi as our second home.”
He noted the significant progress achieved in bilateral trade and tourism, highlighting initiatives such as direct flights to Skardu that have opened new opportunities for Arab travellers to experience Pakistan’s landscapes. “My mission has always been to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in trade and tourism, and I am proud to see the strides we have made,” he said.
Diplomatic tributes
Tributes poured in from distinguished guests during the reception. Dr Zafar Tahir praised the ambassador’s contributions, stating, “Ambassador Tirmizi’s efforts have been pivotal in advancing Pakistan-UAE relations, especially in tourism and trade. His work in facilitating direct flights to Skardu has created new opportunities for both nations.”
Dr Fatima Khalid also commended his achievements, remarking, “This event is our way of acknowledging his remarkable service. His dedication has left a lasting impact on the diplomatic and cultural landscape of the UAE.”
A highlight of the evening came when Dr Tahir presented Ambassador Tirmizi with a commemorative shield in recognition of his tireless work in strengthening bilateral relations.
New chapter
The event was attended by Pakistani Consul General Hussein Mohammad, alongside diplomatic officials, Emirati dignitaries, and prominent community members.
The ambassador expressed appreciation for the support of his colleagues at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai, crediting them for their teamwork in serving the Pakistani community and advancing ties with the UAE.
As he prepares for his next posting, Ambassador Tirmizi shared his outlook: “While I am about to embark on a new diplomatic mission in Moscow, I will carry the fond memories of this place with me always.”
The farewell gathering closed on a warm note, with guests extending best wishes as the ambassador embarks on the next chapter of his diplomatic career.
